Media and the YouTube channel

Hi all,

The media section of the site is coming along nicely. To showcase media from around the web I have begun a new YouTube channel to go with the site.

As time goes on I will add content from the web on the YouTube channel and have set up a number of playlists to go with this. This allows me to showcase the best amateur and professional content on the web via my website while using the tools and video embed functions that Google and YouTube are best known for.

This allows me to easily credit the owners of the content as well as allowing you to be assured the links and files will be backed up and administered by the YouTube team. Please friend or subscribe to the channel to see regular updates.

In order to show case the content I have set up the following pages, more will come over time:

Movies and Media (oh my!)

Hi all,

The content is coming along nicely, but I forget just how long these things take to research and code.

Today I started the Movie section, I've yet to decide what to do with the menu since there's less major articles as their would be with one of the more factual sections.

Anyway I've put together the start of my geisha movie list, I have a feeling this will be something that grows with time as I've discovered a number of Japanese items I've not seen while researching links and trailers.

Not all the reviews are completed yet but nonetheless there's a fair bit to look through:

Next is to collate all the documentaries and TV shows, this will take a whole day so come back later in the week to see if I'm done!

Starting out the Travel section

Hi all,

Today I have been working on the Travel section of the site. Like the books section you will see a new menu structure to match the new redesign. From there there's a range of content that I have created based on my own travels to Japan.

New content includes:

There will be plenty more to come here, particularly information on Museums in Japan where one can see Geisha related art and costume but also on how to get to Japan and some of the best travel resources I have found for Japan to date.

Thanks!

Lots on books

Hi all,

Last night I sat down and coded a lot of new content for the books section.

You'll see a great new menu showing you how I intend to build out this section, but also plenty of content on the books available across a range of areas. I'm still converting my actual book reviews at the moment but you can see the titles, covers and link to Amazon where you can both read more about the books and purchase them.

Remember that purchasing your books via my book links to Amazon helps Geisha of Japan running through my affiliate program.

New content:

Major redevelopment

Hi all,

You may have been redirected here or recently found this site and be wondering why it looks half finished. Well... that's because it is. And rather than wait months while I rewrite the site I thought it was better to release it part by part and hopefully let you see the magic as it unfolds and the complicated nature of writing a site such as this.

Please take my apologies if you reach dummy text, headings that don't link anywhere or broken links. I assure you over time this will all come together but the hours of coding, design and research to make a site like this take dedication. I hope that my desire to bring you good English language content on Geisha and Japan will make it worth it and win your patience.

I will use this blog to identify sections that have recently been updated, please check back regularly and use this blog as a guide for recent completions.

Thanks and apologies!

Amaya
