Hi all,
Unfortunately the research on the pieces I've been doing today have taken a little more time than I was hoping for, but this should mean more material comes out tomorrow.
In the meantime please enjoy this piece on facial preparation for maiko/geiko makeup

One very fancy map
Hi all,
This one required me to work out how to make Fusion Table maps work in Google, so I'm a little proud of this redevelopment but check out my map of where to find Geisha in Japan.
Thanks,
Amaya

Some fashion, some travel
Hi all,
You know sometimes it feels like I have 50 half finished pieces of content waiting for me to have free time. But I did have some free time!
So here's what I did tonight:
I hope you enjoy! More to come soon

So here's what I did tonight:
- New fashion index page
- Updated hairstyles with picture examples
- Added a kanzashi page with examples of seasonal hair ornaments
- Added a Ryokan page on staying in traditional inns in Japan
I hope you enjoy! More to come soon

More travel options
Heyas,
Sorry about the hiatus I've been travelling a lot for work, but I'm back and back on track for more development work.
I've added a couple more tourist pages:
Kyoto Costume Museum
Japanese Hair Museum
I hope you enjoy (and get a chance to visit!)
Thanks,
Amaya

Media and the YouTube channel
Hi all,
The media section of the site is coming along nicely. To showcase media from around the web I have begun a new YouTube channel to go with the site.
As time goes on I will add content from the web on the YouTube channel and have set up a number of playlists to go with this. This allows me to showcase the best amateur and professional content on the web via my website while using the tools and video embed functions that Google and YouTube are best known for.
This allows me to easily credit the owners of the content as well as allowing you to be assured the links and files will be backed up and administered by the YouTube team. Please friend or subscribe to the channel to see regular updates.
In order to show case the content I have set up the following pages, more will come over time:

- Geisha spotting in Japan by tourists and amateur photographers
- Geisha and Maiko dances - individual dances shot at banquets or tourists events
- Geisha Odori - Footage shot at the various odori festivals for each hanamachi
- Geisha in Advertisements This will also allow me to embed videos on other sections of the site as I find relevant content. A good example is the Kyoto Walking Tours and the piece done by the Australian travel show The Great Outdoors.

Movies and Media (oh my!)
Hi all,
The content is coming along nicely, but I forget just how long these things take to research and code.
Today I started the Movie section, I've yet to decide what to do with the menu since there's less major articles as their would be with one of the more factual sections.
Anyway I've put together the start of my geisha movie list, I have a feeling this will be something that grows with time as I've discovered a number of Japanese items I've not seen while researching links and trailers.
Not all the reviews are completed yet but nonetheless there's a fair bit to look through:
Next is to collate all the documentaries and TV shows, this will take a whole day so come back later in the week to see if I'm done!

Starting out the Travel section
Hi all,
Today I have been working on the Travel section of the site. Like the books section you will see a new menu structure to match the new redesign. From there there's a range of content that I have created based on my own travels to Japan.
New content includes:
There will be plenty more to come here, particularly information on Museums in Japan where one can see Geisha related art and costume but also on how to get to Japan and some of the best travel resources I have found for Japan to date.
Thanks!
Amaya
